John Alexander on Pumori over looking Mt Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse.

John discovered his love for this medium while studying in New York and at university in Wales and what followed was a period of prolonged practice that developed throughout a first career spent largely at sea. Coming ashore to return to his passion, he set out on his creative journey in 2016.

As a visual storyteller he has since collaborated with artists, athletes and brands within projects that can be seen in a variety of adventure, brand and business based journals, and more recently featured by the prestigious camera manufacturer Hasselblad.

In Volume One John illustrates elements shot in Nepal, including documentary and editorial projects set in Kathmandu, the Khumbu region of the Himalayas and Mount Everest, and while on assignment at the Pema Ts’al Sakya Monastery in Pokhara.

Volume Two shows highlights from advertising, brand and commercial commissions shot in California, the French Alps and the UK.

His most recent work, shot throughout the highlands and islands of Scotland, is shown within Volume Three, and with new elements coming soon, these reflect a subtle change in creative direction.

Latest Project

In his latest project - Generations - John journeyed to western Mongolia during the spring thaw to trace the traditions of the Kazakh community.

An immersive shoot, he lived and worked with two Kazakh families to document their lives, convey the characters and unveil the next generation of Eagle hunters and huntresses.

Since then he continues to shoot a balance of commercial and personal work that is focused toward advertising, fashion and portraiture.

John is UK based, travelling worldwide and available on a freelance basis.
