John Alexander on Pumori over looking Mt Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse.

John discovered his love for this medium while studying in New York and at university in Wales. What followed was a period of prolonged practice that developed throughout a 17 year career leading teams and managing operations as a Royal Navy Officer and Clearance Diver.

In 2016 he set out on a new path to combine a love of adventure with a passion for this medium to produce authentic imagery with an elemental feel.

John has since become a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, and collaborated with adventurers, advocates and athletes, along with fellow explorers, within projects that have taken him to the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, throughout the Himalayas, Mongolia, New Zealand and Patagonia.

Latest Project

In his latest project - Generations - John journeyed to western Mongolia during the spring thaw to trace the traditions of the Kazakh community.

An immersive shoot, he lived and worked with two Kazakh families to document their lives, convey the characters and unveil the next generation of Eagle hunters and huntresses.

Since then he continues to shoot a balance of commercial and personal projects that are focused toward adventure and expedition, within advertising, brand and editorial based contexts.

A member of the Patagonia Pro Programme, his work can be seen in a variety of adventure, brand and business based journals, and more recently featured by the prestigious camera manufacturer Hasselblad.

John is UK based, travelling worldwide and available on a freelance basis. For booking and enquiries please write to: John@johnalexander.co
